Albertine Muse: Sara Singh

Sara grew up in London and Sweden, and has homes in Stockholm and the East Village, NYC. Her work has been featured in several books, including Fashion Illustration Next by Laird Borrellli. Her clients include Vogue, Elle, Glamour, and Tiffany. Since meeting her through our good friend Peter Elofsson, we’ve been a fan of her illustrations for many years.

Sara spends her Saturday mornings vintage shopping at the Brooklyn Flea, where she drags her boyfriend, Drew, around. She has a cute jackal-eared Chihuahua named Boone.

Left: Vintage books from a short film that Sara did art work for.

Right: Sara wears Rachel Comey boots (available at Albertine) along with a colorful dress purchased at Angela’s Vintage Boutique in the East Village. It looks like Ungaro, but it’s… umm… Umberto!

Left: Sara, a fashion illustrator, has some of her work hanging on the wall, as well as pieces by friends and fellow illustrators, Stina Persson, Liselotte Watkins and Tina Berning. The wood sculptures (woman and canine) by Sara were exhibited at Gallery Hanahou in Soho.

Right: Sara models one of our own, a purple Delphine evening gown with pleated puff sleeves available at Albertine. Sara purchased the necklace from a Ringling Brothers Circus costume sale in Gibsonton, Florida—it accessorized the Poodle Woman’s costume!

Rachel Comey beige blouse from Albertine (comes with a detachable neck collar), worn with a pair of pinstripe vintage Escada wool pants from Housing Works. Sara wears them rolled up to mid-calf—we found this to be very classy and chic! The vintage python clutch (I envy this one!), at left, was found at a market in Chelsea. It reminded Sara of the submarines from “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”. Gold cuff is from Arlene Guerra.

Left: Sara heading out in J.Crew boy-blazer (great staple item) over the Ungaro-looking dress and a Balenciaga bag. Boots by Rachel Comey.

Center: Sunflowers and Ladies for Tea: Mikasa ’70′s porcelain found at a thriftstore in Queens. Hand-painted lady candelabras from Sweden, where Sara lives part of the year.

Right: Vintage floral 1940s dress from Albertine worn with camel clog boots from our friend Nina Z (available in black, moss green, and camel; we are waiting patiently for the delivery from Sweden!). Painting by Erik Magassa.

Albertine Muse: Brooke K. Travis

Ms. Travis is steely elegance and winning charm combined with impeccable taste. We love to see what she’ll pick up at the shop and how she’ll end up putting things together.

Brooke contemplates a Miranda Bennett one shoulder gown for fashion week.
She’s wrapped Delphine’s Brooke skirt over the dress for a delightful and unexpected combination.
